The John M. Parrott Centre is a fully accredited state-of-the-art, 168 bed long term care home, owned and operated by the County of Lennox and Addington, in the Town of Greater Napanee. The John M. Parrott Centre offers free parking, safe work environment and upgraded technology. We are currently seeking highly motivated and energetic nursing students for the position of Personal Support Worker for the summer.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
• You must be enrolled in an RN or RPN nursing program and have completed your first year of clinical placement to qualify. Proof of enrollment is required
• Ability to perform tasks that are necessary for the position
• Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
• Employment is conditional upon a satisfactory criminal record check
• Registered or intends to return to a full-time nursing program during the next academic year
DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
• Ability to work a variety of shifts (days, evenings and nights), as well as be available for call-ins
• Provide and/or support all activities of daily living for the residents
• Provide cognitive, social and/or emotional support to residents
• Work as part of a team and communicate effectively with residents and peers
• Ability to provide resident-centered care to all residents residing within the home
• Satisfactory attendance record, subject to the requirements of the Ontario Human Rights Code
REGULATED SAFETY ACTIVITIES:
• Must adhere to all service area / The John M. Parrott Centre policies and procedures as outlined in WHMIS, Infection Control, Fire & Safety, other manuals and legislation
• Responsible to adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety procedures of the Act and the Home
• Utilize proper body mechanics and transfer techniques in order to carry out safe lifts and/or transfers
