Lifeguard and Swim Instructor, Sunny Life Recreation and Wellness Centre

CAMPBELLFORD

Position Status: Hourly, flexible work week.  Hours are dependent on registration

Salary Range: Range of $16.50 – $18.00 per hour

Reports To: Coordinator, Aquatics

Job Duties:

Reporting the to the Coordinator, Aquatics this position is responsible for the delivery of front-line programming and assisting with other duties as required at the YMCA indoor pool. This position provides direct delivery of high-quality programs designed to assist families and patrons with the achievement of their personal goals. They will regularly connect and communicate with members to improve member retention and engage in relationships with the community of members and partners.

Responsibilities:

• – Responsible for the direct supervision and support of staff and volunteers in the aquatic department
• – Works collaboratively with Coordinator, Aquatics to ensureYMCA service standards and Child Protections Standards are met or exceeded.
• – Front line leadership to programs and services
• – Front line delivery of guarding
• – Develops relationships with members and obtain regular feedback on programs.
• – Assists with scheduling, responding to daily public inquiries about programs and services
• – Assists with staff training, and mentoring of all aquatic staff and volunteer team members
• – Ensures all required qualifications and certifications for staff and volunteers are current
• – Responsible for providing session participation statistics
• – Responsible for facilitating session participant surveys

Work Environment:

• – Based out of Sunny Life Recreation and Wellness Centre YMCA Branch
• – Primarily inside work dependent on specific program components

Qualifications:

• – NL Certification
• – Swim Instructor Certification
• – Hold current Standard First Aid and CPR certification
• – Police Vulnerable Sector Check required (if over 18 years). Police Checks are reviewed on a case-by-case basis
