What you will do:

Reporting to the Manager, Library Services, you will play a vital role in supporting our mission to enhance the well-being of the individuals and communities we serve. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide frontline customer service and automation support
  • Assist the public with research, including the use of electronic databases
  • Provide technology assistance, including the use of public access computers
  • Regular collection maintenance duties
  • Readers’ Advisory assistance
  • Assistance with the development and delivery of programs for children and adults
  • Satisfactory attendance record, subject to the requirements of the Ontario Human Rights Code

What you will bring:  

We are looking for someone who shares our passion for helping people live their best lives and brings:

  • Post-secondary education (Master of Library and Information Science degree AND/OR Library and Information Technician diploma would be assets)
  • Relevant library experience and knowledge of contemporary trends in library services, resources and technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent public service to a wide range of library users in a busy automated environment, including instruction and assistance in the use of new technologies
  • Flexibility to adapt to a changing and innovative work environment
  • Superior interpersonal skills that enable you to deal effectively and courteously with the public and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues
  • A love of reading, community building, and helping people learn new skills
  • Valid Class G driver’s license with satisfactory driver’s abstract and reliable transportation
