Lead Barista

Café Au Play., a family-owned new business located in Trenton, Ontario is seeking a Full Time/Part Time Lead Barista.

At Café au Play, we offer a unique and vibrant environment that combines a cozy café with an indoor play space for families. Our mission is to provide a family-friendly, relaxing space where parents can enjoy delicious coffee and treats while their children explore and play in a safe, engaging indoor environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, tea, and other beverages to customers in a timely manner.
• Offer food items from the café menu, such as baked goods, sandwiches, and snacks.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely restocking of café supplies.
• Place orders with vendors and maintain organized records of purchase.
• Train and support new & existing baristas to uphold quality and customer service standards.
• Assist in managing café schedules and workflow during busy periods.
• Act as the point person for day-to-day café operations when the owner is not present.
• Create a welcoming, family-friendly environment by engaging with both parents and children.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in all café areas.
• Operate the POS system accurately and handle cash/transactions.
• Adhere to all health and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a barista or in a café setting is preferred
• Excellent customer service, multitasking, and communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable using basic digital tools for ordering and marketing.
• A passion for working with children and families in a vibrant, playful setting.
• Valid Food Handler’s Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• Valid First Aid/CPR an asset.
• Vulnerable Sector Check required.
• Flexible availability including weekends and holidays.

Additional Information:

• Wages $17.20 per hour
