Youth Habilitation Quinte Inc. (Youthab) requires a Human Resources Administrator in its Belleville office to support the human resources needs of the agency. This is a part-time permanent position offering vacation time, sick time, group insurance and pension plan working 21 hours per week, with the possibility of full-time working 35 hours per week.

Youthab is a community based non-profit organization established in 1984 with services designed around 3 pillars – housing, mental health, and employment. We support, connect, and empower people to obtain and maintain safe and affordable housing, good mental health, and employment facilitating their transition to independence. Our programs operate under the names of Youthab, Career Edge, and Next Step Housing Connection.

Who You Are
As a Human Resources Administrator, you have strong interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills, excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, think strategically, and can multi-task in a busy environment. You are proficient in referencing employment legislation applicable to non-profit agencies including employment standards, human rights, and occupational health and safety. You have demonstrated organizational skills related to filing systems and office procedures and are detail oriented. You enjoy working with people, have good time management skills, work effectively under pressure with deadlines, and are familiar with a non-profit social services environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Executive Director with the human resources function of the agency
  • Prepare new and update existing human resources and administration policies and procedures
  • Assist with all stages of the hiring process including preparing job postings and job descriptions, interviewing candidates with the program manager/supervisor, reviewing employment agreements and addendums to employment agreements, and conducting reference checks on behalf of the program manager/supervisor
  • Conduct exit interviews with departing staff and prepare an annual summary report
  • Provide guidance to the leadership team and employees regarding employee inquiries
  • Provide guidance to the leadership team on confidential and sensitive personnel matters
  • Revise employee performance evaluation forms and orientation checklists
  • Coordinate annual staff training that is required by the agency
  • Prepare and deliver acknowledgement letters to employees in response to leaves of absence

Qualifications

·         University degree in human resources or a related field

·         Certified Human Resources Professional designation

·         A minimum of three years’ experience in human resources

·         Valid driver’s licence and personal vehicle
