Horticultural/Landscape Technician

The Horticultural/Landscape Technician performs manual duties to assist in the construction of landscape features; reports to Site Supervisor/Manager.

Major Accountabilities:

• Assist in the construction of walkways, patios, garden areas and landscape features.
• Spread topsoil; lay sod; plant flowers, shrubs and trees; and perform other duties to assist in the construction of landscapes
• Follow all health & safety regulations including wearing appropriate protective equipment
• Clean working areas and maintain tools and equipment

Tools & Equipment:

• Plate tampers, sod cutters, pruning saws, cut-off saws, power blowers, etc.
• Hand tools such as shovels, rakes, hammers, wheelbarrows, picks, pruning shears, handheld and hose-end sprayers, saws, soil cultivators, water sprinklers, etc.
• Large construction equipment including tractors, skidsteers, excavators, etc.

• Ability to lift and work in diverse weather conditions i.e. wet and/or humid conditions; hot or cold weather

Education/Experience:

• Secondary School Education is preferable
