GIS Student (Youth Summer Position)

Are you interested in GIS and mapping? Do you enjoy working with technology and analyzing data? Our Human Resources Department is currently accepting applications for the summer student position of GIS Student in the Development Services Department in Prince Edward County, a vibrant community with beautiful beaches, wide open landscapes and ample opportunities for outdoor fun, including artistic and cultural events, food, music and wineries/breweries. 

The ideal candidate must be enrolled in a post-secondary program in GIS and be returning to school in the Fall. 

As a GIS student under the supervision of the GIS Supervisor, you will contribute to mapping efforts across various departments and projects within The County. Your responsibilities include updating and maintaining existing GIS data, collecting and creating new data, providing technical support, and performing other duties as assigned. This position will require proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access).

General qualifications include:

  • Enrolment in a recognized post-secondary program and returning to school in the Fall.
  • Proficient in ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
  • Microsoft Office software.
  • Safety conscious and provides own certified safety footwear.
  • Able to work as part of a team and independently as required.
  • Knowledge of computer software and ability to learn new programs.
  • Customer service focused.
  • Proof of a valid G2 or G Ontario driver’s license.
