Hours of Work:                Days, Evenings and Weekends

Salary Range:                  $22.12 to $25.07 per hour (as per the CUPE Collective Agreement)

Closing Date:                  January 9, 2025

 

The John M. Parrott Centre is a fully accredited state-of-the-art, 168 bed long term care home, owned and operated by the County of Lennox and Addington, in the Town of Greater Napanee. The John M. Parrott Centre offers free parking, a safe work environment, and upgraded technology. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and energetic Environmental Service Worker to join our team.

 

All new environmental positions need to complete the Environmental Services for Frontline Staff course through the Canadian Healthcare Housekeepers Association.  Successful Internal / External applicants must have the course completed or provide proof of completion within 3 months from their date of hire or transfer.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Required to complete the Environmental Services for Frontline Staff course through the Canadian Healthcare Housekeepers Association.  Applicants must provide proof of completion within 3 months of their date of hire

• Possess a secondary school graduation diploma (preferred) or equivalent

• Cleaning experience with preference given to experience in healthcare settings and knowledge of best practices for infection control

• Continuing education is an expectation and completion of a housekeeping-related course is an asset

• Ability to perform tasks that are necessary for the position

• Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills

 

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

• General housekeeping throughout the facility following good infection control practices to maintain a “hospital clean” environment

• Cleaning and maintaining hard floors and carpets including deep floor care (stripping, resealing and carpet shampooing)

• Specialized cleaning including precautionary, isolation and outbreak management

• Waste disposal to include safe waste handling and recycling

• Deep cleaning projects e.g. wall washing, windows, admissions and discharges and other duties as assigned

• Basic maintenance tasks e.g. home type repairs

• Assisting with resident care activities

• Laundry duties as required, including gathering, sorting and processing of linens and personal clothing

• Satisfactory criminal reference check required

• Ability to work a variety of shifts as well as be available for call-in

• Satisfactory attendance record, subject to the requirements of the Ontario Human Rights Code

 

REGULATED SAFETY ACTIVITIES:

• Must adhere to all service area / The John M. Parrott Centre policies and procedures as outlined in WHMIS, Infection Control, Fire & Safety, other manuals and legislation
