The County of Lennox and Addington is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional for the position of Communications Officer/Deputy Clerk.
Located in Eastern Ontario, mid-way between Toronto and Montreal, The County of Lennox and Addington offers attractive rural, recreational and small town lifestyle opportunities in close proximity to the urban centres of Kingston and Belleville.
Reporting to the County Clerk/Communications Manager, the Communications Officer/Deputy Clerk will be responsible to:
• Develop and implement communication strategies and plans in alignment with departmental/corporate-wide programs/initiatives, ensuring consistent use of templates, logos, brands and key messages.
• Create a wide variety of proactive, creative, clear, timely and accurate communications products, including writing articles/posts, creating graphics, and providing proofing and editing assistance on writing created within other departments.
• Monitor communications campaigns and programs, review/assess analytics and report on outcomes using a variety of tools based on identified objectives, and report findings with recommended improvements for future activities.
• Support the Communications Manager in the event of a crisis or emergency by providing key content creation support, including development of media releases, social media and website content, employee intranet messaging, and key messaging for response to public inquiries.
• Coordinate operational duties related to the Clerk’s functions and the administrative tasks and support for Council and Committees, including preparing meeting agendas and minutes in iCompass meeting management software.
• Attend Council and Committee meetings and participate as required.
• Assist with the development and implementation of procedures to communicate Council’s decisions across the organization and to the public and other stakeholders.
• Serve as the County’s designate on the Auxiliary Panel of the Lennox and Addington Joint Accessibility Advisory Committee.
Qualifications
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or a related field of study.
• Three (3) years experience in a similar position.
• Advanced research, verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Discretion, sound judgment and decision-making skills in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
• Satisfactory attendance record, subject to the requirements of the Ontario Human Rights Code.
