Baxter Arts Centre is looking for energetic, arts loving human to join our Summer Camp team. You must be upbeat, ready to work with children ages 5-12, and have an interest in art in any form, whether it is painting, drawing, music, theatre, fibre arts, circus arts and beyond! Camp sessions are located across the County (Wellington, Picton, and Bloomfield), drivers license and vehicle preferred or ability to get to those locations. You will be working closely with the Camp Instructors and providing support to ensure programs run smoothly and children attending camp have a fun and memorable experience.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The Summer Camp Assistants will work closely with Camp Instructors to ensure summer camp programming is well supported and runs smoothly. Tasks may include:

• Sourcing supplies and materials
• Supervising camp participants
• Supporting art and educational activities
• Engaging children during breaks with games
• Supervising drop-off and pick-up times
• Helping clean up at the end of the day

Requirements:

• *Applications for the Sr. Camp Assistant position must be eligible to be employed with the Canada Summer Jobs program:
  • Between the ages for 15 and 30 at start date
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
• If you are over 18: must have or be willing to get a Vulnerable Sector Check with the OPP (letter to be provided and cost will be reimbursed)
• The Jr. Camp Assistant programs is open to 14+. This is also a great opportunity for anyone who attends school in the fall and winter, as the position is recurring every summer!
• Great to have:
  • Experience with or interest in working with children
  • Interest in art in all its forms
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Access to transportation and a valid licence – to travel to summer camp sites may be required (Wellington, Bloomfield, Picton)
