Building Maintenance Labourer, Heritage (Full-Time, Permanent)

The Human Resources Department is currently accepting applications for the full-time, permanent position of Building Maintenance Labourer, Heritage. Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Community Facilities, the Building Maintenance Labourer – Heritage will monitor, and support restoration and maintenance all County buildings with particular focus on the County Museums and heritage buildings. This position will also be responsible to care for all technical museum equipment, historic site restoration and may be required to assist with artifact maintenance.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Consideration may be given to a combination of education and related experience.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience with construction and building repairs on heritage buildings including carpentry, plumbing and electrical work.
  • Education in heritage restoration such as Heritage Window Restoration would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to exercise tact, courtesy, good judgement and discretion.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to be flexible and adaptable.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s Licence in good standing.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Background Check.

The current hourly rate of pay for this position is $24.47, as per Band 5 of CUPE Local 2275’s Collective Agreement. Compensation also includes a competitive benefit package and membership in OMERS, a defined benefit pension plan.
