BUILDING INSPECTOR – LEVEL I

The Human Resources Department for the County of Prince Edward is currently accepting applications for the permanent full-time position of Building Inspector – Level I. Reporting to the Chief Building Official, the Building Inspector – Level 1 ensures the construction, plumbing, HVAC, and on-site sewage for Part 9 residential buildings is in accordance with all County By-Laws, the Building Code Act, the Ontario Building Code and other relevant acts, legislation or regulation. 

 The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: 

·       Completed post-secondary in a related field such as Architectural Technology, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

·       Has obtained a minimum level certification of qualifications in House, HVAC House, Plumbing House, On-Site Sewage, House and General Legal, from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

·       CBCO certification through the Ontario Building Officials Association is considered an asset.

·       Minimum of one (1) year of experience in enforcement of the Ontario Building Code.

·       Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

·       Experience working with various By-Laws, the Ontario Building Code, and Provincial and Municipal Acts.

·       Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

·       Proficiency in the use of computers, with knowledge related to Microsoft Office Software.

·       Satisfactory Criminal Background Check.

·       Valid “G” Ontario Driver’s License in good standing.

The current rate of pay for this position is $31.78 per hour, per Band 11 of CUPE Local 2275’s Collective Agreement.
