Superintendent

Elmwood Cemetery is located on a remote farm in Corbyville, Ontario, on the banks of the Moira River, the Reid family used a portion of their farm to inter family members for burials.

Elmwood Cemetery is looking for a Part Time Superintendent to join their team

Responsibilities:

• Provide empathetic support to customers during sensitive & difficult times
• Educate customers on interment rights, cemetery procedures & interment options
• Complete sales contracts, collect & reconcile payments using a Square terminal
• Maintain integrity of records & maps in hard & electronic files
• Arrange ground & niche interments & facilitate disinterment when required
• Care for cemetery, interment sites, columbaria, memorial installations & buildings
• Help preserve & maintain the Cemetery’s beauty & tranquility
• Attend Board Meetings, provide sales updates & suggest budget items
• Perform routine tasks such as compiling lists for headstone cleaning, digging a hole for the interment of an urn, gardening, light snow removal, equipment maintenance checks, as well as other periodic tasks assigned by the Board

Skills/Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• Proficient in Microsoft 365
• Able to perform physically demanding work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Preference will be given to those with cemetery experience

Additional Information:

• Monthly Contract payment of $1500 + Sales Commission
• Flexible hours based on burial schedule
• Minimum 16 hours per week
