Summer Student Positions – Public Works (2-Full-time)

The Town of Deseronto is currently accepting applications for Summer Student positions within our Public Works Department (2 Full-Time).

Position Overview

Reporting to the Municipal Management Team, these positions will assist in a variety of operational tasks supporting the maintenance and upkeep of municipal infrastructure.

Responsibilities will include:

• General infrastructure/property maintenance and landscaping on municipally owned property
• Labour and light equipment operation for road construction projects
• Facility janitorial duties
• Various other maintenance related duties, as assigned

Position Requirements:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be available to start as early as May 4, 2026, and be attending post-secondary education in September 2026
  • Possess strong personal and customer service skills
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Have experience with maintenance equipment and tasks (e.g., painting, janitorial duties, operating zero-turn mowers, gas-powered weed eaters, and general property maintenance tools)
  • Demonstrate punctuality, dependability, a strong work ethic, and keen attention to detail
  • Hold a valid minimum Class G2 driver’s license
  • Be flexible and available to work weekdays, occasional evenings and weekends as operationally required.

Position Details:

  • Employment Period: May 4, 2026 – August 21, 2026 (maximum)
  • Compensation: $17.60 per hour plus vacation pay
