Do you enjoy working outdoors and with various types of tools and equipment? Our Human Resources Department is currently accepting applications from students to fill the summer position of Roads Student Labourer to support our Operational Services Department in beautiful Prince Edward County, a vibrant community with beautiful beaches, wide open landscapes and ample opportunities for outdoor fun, including artistic and cultural events, food, music and wineries/breweries.
The Roads Student Labourer will bring their education in Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Heavy Equipment Operator or a related discipline to perform a variety of outdoor tasks and must be returning to school in the Fall. Under the guidance of the Supervisor, this student will assist with sidewalk, culvert and fencing installations and perform road construction maintenance related duties as required including traffic control, repairs, vehicle maintenance and general cleaning related tasks. The student will be taught how to identify noxious weeds and will assist in their termination and removal following the Ministry of Agriculture’s Guidelines and Procedures.
Qualifications:
- Enrolment in a recognized post-secondary program and returning to school in the Fall.
- Safety conscious and provides own certified safety footwear.
- Able to work as part of a team and independently, as required.
- Proof of a valid ‘G2’ or ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s Licence and a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract.
