The County is currently accepting applications for the temporary, full-time position of Mechanic. Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure, the Mechanic provides safe, reliable, efficient and cost-effective repairs, maintenance and inspection services to the County’s municipal fleet. This position will be required for approximately three (3) months.
Qualifications:
- Completion of grade 12 education and completion of a five (5) year mechanic apprenticeship program, required.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience required. Municipal experience an asset.
- Must possess and maintain 310T and 310S licenses.
- Experience with Motor Vehicle Inspection certificates.
- Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and any other associated legislation pertaining to the operation of the department.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement and show tact and diplomacy when carrying out duties.
- Advanced knowledge of automotive diagnostics, repair and maintenance processes.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to keep accurate, detailed records and product written reports as required capable.
- Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal, and team building skills with the ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, web applications and other related software.
- Valid ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s License with a satisfactory Driver’s abstract.
- Must be available to work planned and unplanned overtime or rotating shifts and to be available on-call by communication device 24 hours per day.
Additional Information and How to Apply:
The current hourly rate of pay for this position is $42.97 per Band 13 of CUPE Local 2275’s Collective Agreement, plus 10% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation pay.
