Maintenance Assistant (Seasonal)

Located in the heart of Prince Edward County just outside Bloomfield, Ontario, Wesley Acres is on the beautiful shores of West Lake overlooking the Sandbanks.

The Seasonal Maintenance Assistant will have a heart for Christian ministry. They are responsible for general maintenance work and grounds maintenance on the Wesley Acres property under the direction of the Lead Maintenance Supervisor and/or the Director of Operations. Primary duties will include general maintenance work such as painting, minor repairs, mowing grass and weed eating. 

To be successful in the role, you will need to take instruction well and work independently after receiving instruction

Working Conditions:
Any day of the week including some Saturdays, Sundays & holidays
Available to handle emergency, after hours calls
Common hours are 9:00am – 5:00pm but may vary depending on task
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
Interaction with employees, management, and the public at large
Physically demanding tasks, standing and moving for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 25 lbs and climb a ladder.

Employment Period:
April–November

Wage:
$18.60-$21.60 *based on qualifications and experience. Adjustments may be made depending on job performance and attendance.

Dress Code:
Wesley Acres Inc. staff t-shirts or high visible clothing (with no holes)
Long pants (with no holes)
Closed toe/closed heel CSA approved safety shoes/boots

Responsibilities:

• Assist in maintenance
• Weed-eating
• Lawn mowing
• Other duties as required

Requirements:

• Ability to adhere to and abide by the Statements of Faith of the Free Methodist Church in Canada while on duty and/ore representing Wesley Acres.
• Ability to promote the Christian mission of Wesley Acres through words and actions while on duty and/or representing Wesley Acres.
• Valid driver’s license
• Reliable transportation
• Willingness to work with power lawn equipment, previous experience an asset
• Willingness to listen and apply instructions
• Willingness to think creatively
• Ability to work independently
• Willingness to learn how to operate small equipment
• Prior experience is an asset
• Consistent, professional dress and manner (Must provide own steel toed boots.)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Good time management skills
• Ability to contribute positively as part of a team, helping out with various tasks as required.
• Basic general repair skills are considered an asset
• Any other duties as assigned and requested by Lead Maintenance, Director of Operations and/or Executive Director.
