Kitchen Apprentice

Kaleidoscope Catering, located in Trenton, is seeking an ambitious and mature individual to join its team as a full-time Kitchen Apprentice. The Kitchen Apprentice role provides the opportunity to learn and gain the necessary skills to become an integral team member contributing to the success of an established catering business in the Trenton-Belleville and Quinte West regions.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop culinary skills necessary for accurately preparing, measuring, weighing and combining ingredients to assemble Kaleidoscope recipes from start to finish
• Learn industry standards for preparing catering orders of baked goods, sandwiches, salads, cheese and fruit trays
• Actively be involved in developing ideas into Kaleidoscope menu planning

Skills/Qualifications:

• Able to manage competing demands under pressure in a busy work environment
• Develop communications skills to follow and convey specific instructions and work collaboratively
• Available to work on a rotating basis, including evening and weekends
• Capable to work continuously standing, stooping and bending, as workload demands
• Able to safely lift to 20kg
• Able to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to complete assigned duties working unsupervised

Additional Information:

• Evening and weekend work required
• $17.60/ hour to start with opportunities or advancement
