Youth Habilitation Quinte Inc.’s housing program, known as Next Step Housing Connection, requires a Housing and Landlord Liaison to provide services to low-income individuals who require housing support services in Lennox & Addington County. This is a full-time, permanent position working 35 hours per week in our Napanee office, commencing as soon as possible. The role offers vacation time, sick leave, group insurance, and a pension plan.
Who We Are:
Next Step Housing Connection offers free housing support services to low-income individuals (aged 16+) and families facing or experiencing homelessness in Hastings, Prince Edward, and Lennox & Addington Counties.
Who You Are:
You enjoy working with barriered and vulnerable individuals facing difficult life circumstances and are outgoing, friendly, self-directed, and organized. While assisting clients through the housing search process, you will communicate in an open, helpful and engaging tone with a focus on empowering each client. Your passion for providing high quality service will contribute to guiding your clients to successful housing outcomes.
Your Role:
As a Housing and Landlord Liaison, you will provide intensive client-centered housing support services to low-income individuals and make referrals to other community resources. This includes developing and implementing individualized support plans, assisting clients in obtaining/maintaining housing, creating and maintaining a local landlord registry, providing housing retention and life skills counselling, providing on-going intensive follow-up services, liaising, advocating and referring clients to relevant community agencies, networking with local community agencies and landlords, maintaining client files and collecting and entering data.
Skills We’re Looking for:
· Previous experience administering housing assessments and developing action plans
· Strong advocacy and communication skills
· Previous experience working with unhoused individuals
· Strong counselling and case management skills including entering accurate case notes, maintaining organized files, and collecting and reporting accurate data
· Knowledge of the local housing market, local community resources, and the Residential Tenancies Act
Qualifications Required:
· Community College Diploma in a social services field
· Minimum of two years of related experience is preferred
· Valid driver’s licence and personal vehicle
