Front Desk Agent

The Waring House Restaurant & Inn, located at 395 County Road 1 in Picton, is seeking a friendly, easygoing individual to join its Front Desk team. At the front desk, you will be the first point of contact for all hotel visitors and will be responsible for creating a welcoming first impression.

Schedule: Day, Evening, Holidays, Monday to Friday, Weekends as needed
Ability to Commute/Relocate: Picton, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work

Duties:

  • Greet guests and welcome them to the property
  • Answer phone calls and direct calls to appropriate parties
  • Address guests’ questions and concerns by actively listening and providing them with appropriate information, direction and a professional demeanour
  • Book reservations for dining, accommodations, cookery school and special events.
  • Accept and sign delivery of letters, packages, etc. and distribute them either in the office or have them sent to their appropriate department.
  • Check, sort, and respond to emails in an informative, courteous and professional manner or forward them to the appropriate department.
  • Keep the reception area tidy and presentable with restocking of supplies, and light cleaning duties (including dusting and vacuuming)
  • Assist guests with minor room issues (TV troubleshooting, extra linens or amenities)

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a front desk representative or agent in a relevant position
  • Familiarity with the use of office equipment (e.g. fax, printer, etc.)
  • Thorough knowledge of customer service
  • Knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel and Word)
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Strong at multitasking and organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • The Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is a requirement
  • Must be available to work various shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Previous experience in the hotel industry is an asset, but not a requirement
  • Hotel & Accommodations Guest Services Staff: 1 year (preferred)
  • Customer service: 1 year (preferred)
