Are you passionate about education, community development, and helping people succeed? The Prince Edward Learning Centre is seeking a motivated and community-minded Summer Community Learning and Engagement Assistant to join our team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate interested in education, community development, social services, advocacy, or community engagement. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience supporting adult learners and building community connections and action.

Position Summary
The Summer Community Learning and Engagement Assistant will support several exciting initiatives, including:
- Adult and essential skills programming
- Community engagement and neighbourhood development projects
- Community advocacy and capacity-building activities
The position offers a unique opportunity to work across education, and community engagement projects while making a meaningful impact in Prince Edward County.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Adult Learners
- Assist the Essential Skills Team in supporting learners in achieving their educational and employment goals.
- Help prepare learning materials and resources.
- Provide administrative and organizational support for classes, workshops, and learner activities.
- Assist with learner outreach and engagement activities.
Community Engagement and Neighbourhood Development
- Support neighbourhood-based community development initiatives.
- Assist in organizing community events, meetings, and engagement activities.
- Help document community needs, strengths, and priorities.
- Support efforts that foster social belonging, mutual aid, and community connections.
- Participate in community advocacy and development initiatives that strengthen local neighbourhoods.
Communications and Administration
- Assist with community outreach.
- Help maintain project records and reports.
- Attend team meetings and contribute ideas and feedback.
- Support data collection and evaluation activities.
Other Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational priorities and emerging community needs.
Qualifications:
We are looking for someone who:
- Is currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary program in education, social services, community development, communications, public administration, or related field.
- Has strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrates initiative, creativity, and a willingness to learn.
- Works well independently and as part of a team.
- Is comfortable engaging with diverse community members.
- Has strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Has experience with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and social media platforms.
- Knowledge of community development, adult learning, or early childhood education is considered an asset.
- Meets qualifications for Canada Summer Job Program (age 30 or under).
