Position Overview

As a Custodian, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment throughout our facility. You will be responsible for cleaning production areas, washrooms, lunchrooms, locker rooms, and other spaces, ensuring our workplace meets high standards at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Floor & Surface Cleaning

  • Sweep around equipment on production floors, tables and equipment to maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Use floor scrubber, brooms, mops and all cleaning equipment, to keep aisle ways and work areas clean and clear
  • Remove debris, dust, and spills promptly to prevent hazards
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as workbenches, handles, and control panels

Washroom Maintenance

  • Clean and sanitize toilets, urinals, and sinks
  • Restock supplies including toilet paper and soap
  • Wash floors and counters
  • Clean mirrors
  • Empty garbage
  • Report plumbing issues to maintenance

Lunchroom / locker room and Break Area Cleaning

  • Wipe down tables, chairs, countertops, sinks and doors
  • Clean and sanitize shared appliances (microwaves, fridges (inside and out), toaster)
  • Empty garbage and recycling bins and replace liners
  • Wash floors

Machinery & Equipment Care and work areas (Non-Technical)

  • Wipe down exterior surfaces of production machinery (no internal components)
  • Remove dust, grease, and residue from non-operational parts
  • Sweep around all machines and work areas
  • Follow safety protocols when working near active equipment
  • Sweep / wash, clean, all equipment, machines and work areas

Waste Management

  • Collect and dispose of waste materials from designated bins
  • Ensure proper separation of recyclables and hazardous materials
  • Maintain cleanliness around waste disposal areas

Safety & Compliance

  • Use approved cleaning agents and follow WHMIS guidelines
  • Wear appropriate PPE while performing duties
  • Identify and report safety hazards or maintenance needs

Inventory & Supplies

  • Monitor stock levels of cleaning and washroom supplies and request replenishments
  • Ensure all cleaning tools and chemicals are stored securely

Requirements:

  • Experience cleaning a manufacturing environment considered an asset
  • Works well as part of team and is dependable
  • Ability to adapt to changes in job scope
  • Ability to follow instruction and work with minimal supervision
  • Attention to detail a must
  • Must be able to keep the entire plant, washroom, locker room, lunchroom spotless
