Piping & Brazing Technician – HVAC Manufacturing
Location: 8 Douglas Rd, Trenton, ON
Pay: $22.09-26.46

Job Summary
The Piping & Brazing Technician is responsible for fabrication, assembly, and brazing of copper piping systems used in HVAC units such as air conditioners, heat pumps, and dehumidifiers. The role ensures leak-free joints, proper routing, and adherence to quality and safety standards in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Piping & Assembly
- Cut, bend, flare, and route copper tubes as per engineering drawings
- Assemble refrigerant piping circuits for HVAC units (condensers, evaporators, compressors)
- Install components such as expansion valves, filter driers, accumulators, and headers
2. Brazing Operations
- Perform brazing of copper-to-copper and copper-to-brass/steel joints using appropriate filler materials
- Ensure proper nitrogen purging during brazing to prevent oxidation inside tubes
- Maintain correct torch settings and flame characteristics
- Achieve strong, leak-proof joints in line with quality standards
3. Leak Testing & Quality Control
- Conduct pressure testing using nitrogen or dry air
- Perform leak detection using soap solution, electronic leak detectors, or vacuum decay methods
- Rectify leaks and rework defective joints
- Ensure compliance with internal QC standards and specifications
4. Drawing & Process Compliance
- Read and interpret piping schematics, GA drawings, and work instructions
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions
- Maintain traceability and documentation where required
5. Tools & Equipment Handling
- Operate brazing torches, tube cutters, benders, flaring tools, and pressure testing equipment
- Ensure proper maintenance and safe handling of tools and gas cylinders
6. Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow safety practices related to gas handling, open flames, and pressurized systems
- Use PPE (gloves, goggles, face shield, etc.)
- Maintain clean and organized workstations (5S practices)
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong hands-on experience in copper brazing techniques
- Knowledge of refrigerant piping systems and HVAC cycle basics
- Ability to read technical drawings and symbols
- Familiarity with nitrogen purging and pressure testing
- Understanding of safety standards in manufacturing environments
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in HVAC manufacturing or similar industry
- Experience in assembly lines for ACs, heat pumps, or refrigeration systems is an advantage
