Spencmaple Holsteins are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and experienced Herdsperson to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.

Job Duties:

About the Position:

The Herdsperson is responsible for the day-to-day care and management of the livestock, as well as assisting with general farm operations.  This is a hands-on position that requires someone who takes pride in animal care and is comfortable working in a variety of weather and farm conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Care for and monitor the health and well-being of the dairy herd
• Milk and feed livestock twice daily
• Assist with general livestock duties and barn maintenance
• Operate tractors and other farm equipment
• Perform field work and other farm duties during the summer months
• Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment
• Work safely and responsibly around livestock, machinery and farm equipment
• Perform other general farm duties as required

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Previous dairy farm or livestock experience preferred
• Experience driving tractors and operating farm equipment
• Valid driver’s licence required
• Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable working outdoors and in all types of weather and environmental conditions
• Good animal-handling skills and a commitment to proper livestock care
• Willingness to work a consistent twice-daily milking and feeding schedule

Additional Information:

• Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
• Salary: $45,000 – $55,000 per year, based on experience
