Gallery Manager & Assistant Curator

As the Gallery Manager & Assistant Curator, you are the welcoming face of the gallery on Saturdays and Sundays, from 12:00 to 5:00 pm, from June to October. This role blends hospitality, sales, curation, and hands-on gallery operations in a beautifully creative environment.

As an essential ambassador for internationally renowned sculptor Tom Ashbourne. You’ll create an exceptional visitor experience. You will drive art sales and help shape the presentation of fine art sculptures and sculptural photography.

Key Responsibilities

• Seek out visitors to the winery, inviting them to visit the gallery, warmly greet and inviting them to explore the artwork at their own pace
• Engage visitors in knowledgeable conversation and guide them through a positive, art-buying experience
• Develop and use effective sales tools and techniques to generate interest and close sales
• Co-curate new exhibitions every 6–8 weeks, contributing ideas to layout, storytelling, and presentation
• Propose engaging, thoughtful, or provocative content ideas for the gallery’s social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
• Identify opportunities to elevate the visitor experience and ensure the gallery always feels welcoming, polished, and on-brand
• Process payments and coordinate the safe packaging, and occasional shipping of artworks

Requirements

• Sales experience, ideally in art, giftware, or a related customer-facing environment
• Excellent communication skills and a naturally warm, outgoing manner
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage the gallery with confidence
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a beautiful, professional space
• Bilingualism is an asset
