We are a growing, independently owned mobile diesel and mechanical service business serving Prince Edward County and surrounding areas. We work on a wide variety of equipment, including cars, trucks, transport trucks, tractors, agricultural equipment and heavy equipment.

We are looking for a reliable, trustworthy and mechanically minded individual to join our team. The successful candidate will initially work closely with an experienced mechanic, assisting with mobile service calls and shop-based repairs while developing their mechanical skills and knowledge.

Formal diesel mechanic training or experience is an asset, but we are willing to train the right person. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong interest in mechanics who wants to develop their skills and progress toward independently completing service and repair work.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the mechanic with mobile service calls and shop-based repairs
• Assist with maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and servicing of cars, trucks, transport trucks, tractors and agricultural/heavy equipment
• Learn to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues under supervision
• Perform oil changes, brake work, routine maintenance, component replacement and general mechanical repairs
• Assist with the disassembly, repair and reassembly of equipment
• Safely and appropriately use hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment
• Help identify parts, supplies and tools required for various jobs
• Assist with loading and unloading tools and equipment for mobile service calls
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
• Communicate professionally with customers when required
• Work toward independently completing service and repair jobs
• Progress toward taking on independent shop projects and mobile service calls

Skills & Experience

• Basic mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience
• Strong interest in diesel, automotive, agricultural and heavy equipment repair
• Comfortable using hand and power tools
• Ability and willingness to learn new mechanical systems and procedures
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Good attention to detail
• Reliable, dependable and punctual
• Trustworthy and able to work independently as skills develop
• Good communication and customer-service skills
• Ability to work in a variety of environments and weather conditions
• Previous experience working on vehicles, trucks, tractors or heavy equipment is an asset
• Previous diesel mechanic or agricultural equipment experience is an asset, but not required
• Mechanical training or formal education is considered an asset

Requirements

• Valid driver’s licence
• Reliable personal vehicle for getting to the shop and/or job sites
• Ability to work full-time with flexible hours
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn

Compensation & Growth

Starting wage is $22–$30 per hour, depending on experience and skill level. There is an opportunity for increased compensation as the successful candidate develops the ability to complete jobs independently and take on billable service work.

This position offers the opportunity to learn on the job, build hands-on mechanical experience and grow into a more independent service technician role within a growing local business.
