About the Position

We are a local mortgage brokerage looking for a Mortgage Fulfillment / Underwriting Assistant to join our team. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented individual who enjoys working with documents, numbers, and people and can help ensure mortgage files are accurate, complete, and ready for lender submission and funding.

The position would ideally begin part-time during the training period and transition to full-time once the successful candidate is fully trained. However, we are open to considering other arrangements, including candidates seeking strictly part-time or full-time employment.

We work from a home office in Belleville. The successful candidate will work alongside us in the office during training, with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid work-from-home arrangement once they are comfortable and proficient in the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review mortgage applications and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Review income documents, employment information, bank statements, tax documents, property information, credit reports, and other supporting documentation.
  • Identify missing, inconsistent, or potentially problematic information before files are submitted to lenders.
  • Assist with preparing complete, accurate, and organized mortgage submission packages.
  • Review lender commitments and identify outstanding conditions.
  • Communicate with clients, lenders, brokers, and other professionals as required to obtain outstanding documentation and information.
  • Monitor mortgage files from initial submission through approval and ultimately to funding.
  • Maintain accurate and organized electronic files and records.
  • Follow up on outstanding conditions and deadlines to help ensure transactions remain on track.
  • Provide general administrative and processing support to the mortgage brokerage as required.

Experience That Would Be an Asset

Experience in any of the following areas would be considered an asset:

  • Banking or financial services
  • Mortgage lending or mortgage administration
  • Underwriting or mortgage fulfillment
  • Real estate
  • Real estate administration or transaction coordination
  • Credit or financial document processing
