Meet Jon

Jon came to Career Edge with more than 25 years of experience in automotive retail and service management. He had most recently worked as an Auto Service & Auto Parts Manager at Canadian Tire in Campbellford from 2022 to 2024, overseeing daily operations, managing staff, maintaining inventory, and providing exceptional customer service. Prior to that, he spent more than 20 years with Costco Wholesale in Tire Centre Supervisor and Manager roles.

How Career Edge Supported Jon:

Despite his strong employment history, Jon was ready for a change and was looking for support to explore a new employment direction and find a stable, full-time opportunity that would build on his strengths while opening the door to something different.

Through Career Edge support, Jon participated in a variety of employment services designed to strengthen his job search and build confidence. His resume was redeveloped to better showcase his extensive experience and transferable skills, and tailored cover letters were developed to support targeted applications. Jon also participated in an interview preparation workshop and completed a mock interview, giving him an opportunity to practice his responses and strengthen his confidence.

As he explored his next career move, Jon also participated in the Canvas to Careers program delivered by Career Edge, which provided an opportunity to explore employment pathways, consider new possibilities, and further develop his career plan.

Breaking Down Barriers:

The journey was not without challenges. During his participation, Jon experienced personal family circumstances that created additional challenges. Despite these circumstances, he remained engaged with services, maintained consistent communication, and continued moving forward with his employment goals. His persistence and commitment to his job search ultimately paid off.

The Outcome:

After an active and focused employment search, Jon successfully secured a full-time position with Blommer’s Chocolate Company as a Packager. To support the transition into his new role, a seven-week Career Edge placement package totaling 245 hours was initiated. Jon also received a voucher for required safety footwear, helping remove some of the practical barriers associated with starting a new position.
