Do you enjoy working outdoors? Would you like to gain experience working with tools and equipment? Our Human Resources Department is currently accepting applications from students to fill the summer position of Open Spaces Student to support our Operational Services Department in beautiful Prince Edward County, a vibrant community with beautiful beaches, wide open landscapes and ample opportunities for outdoor fun, including artistic and cultural events, food, music and wineries/breweries.
The Open Spaces Student will bring their education in Environmental Studies or a related discipline to perform a variety of outdoor tasks and must be returning to school in the Fall. Under the guidance of the Supervisor, this student will assist with trail maintenance, garbage collection, beach upkeep, cemetery care, weed eating, vehicle maintenance and shop cleaning during The County’s robust and busy summer season. Tasks will involve operating specialized seasonal maintenance tools, inspection of public parks and facilities for deficiencies, maintenance of park entrances, and communicating with members of the public from time to time.
General qualifications include:
- Enrolment in a recognized post-secondary program and returning to school in the Fall.
- Safety conscious and provides own certified safety footwear.
- Strong communication skills.
- Able to work as part of a team and independently, as required.
- Proof of a valid ‘G2’ or ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s Licence.
