Junior and/or Intermediate Design Assistant

Ah-Bohd Home Store is set to open its new store location on Hwy#62 in Rossmore and is seeking to hire a Jr. or Intermediate Design Assistant. This key role starts as part-time, and Ah-Bohd Home Store influences and creates beautiful spaces. This position can be full-time immediately if willing to fill hours in the store, leading to a full-time Design position.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Inform potential clients of Interior Design services offered by Ah-bohd Home Store.
  • Assist with design consultations as needed.
  • Ability to create a mood board, shopping lists using products that meet our customers budget & design needs.
  • Ability to place custom product orders and accurately process customer sales.
  • Working in the showroom to maintain a clean, stocked, and organized selling floor.
  • Assisting customers throughout the showroom during consultations and performing any necessary follow-up to close the sale.
  • Styling and organizing the showroom conducive to supporting merchandise sales.
  • Consulting with customers on furniture and décor projects while maintaining a professional manner and appearance.
  • Fostering a commitment to external and internal customer service.
  • Assisting with styling and staging where necessary.
  • Preparing for and cleaning up after meetings.
  • Shoppe opening and closing duties.
  • Assisting with sourcing products, such as preparing and sending Shopify orders and being up to date with current inventory levels.
  • Communicating and maintaining a strong relationship with vendors and suppliers to ensure that orders are processed efficiently.
  • Networking in the community, including our design community.
  • Assisting with shoppe sales, events, and collaborations.
  • Ad hoc administrative duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience requirements needed for this role are:

  • Applicant must possess knowledge of AUTO CAD, sketch-up skills, or previous experience on kitchen design software and learn new software.
  • Experience working in retail sales.
  • An outstanding builder of relationships, possessing a high degree of self-confidence when communicating with customers.
  • A friendly, positive, passionate about service excellence, highly motivated individual who works well independently and as a team player.
  • Strong knowledge of and passion for business development. We need someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who wants to help grow our business.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of design and style, including trends and trendsetters.
  • Ability to create and deliver original and creative content.
  • Rigorous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills. Able to manage multiple priorities efficiently under pressure.
  • A demonstrated ability to drive and support merchandise sales.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in using social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and sales/media platforms such as Shopify, Photoshop.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Google Drive/G Suite/Google Docs.
  • The ability to lift as much as 50lbs regularly with ease.
  • A G-level Ontario driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.

Product and store-specific training to be provided to the successful candidate.

Hours of operations are Monday – Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., with the possibility of rotating weekend shifts. Both part-time (15-20 hours per week) and full-time (30-40 hours per week) opportunities be available. The ideal candidates will rotate weekends, be flexible to cover or pick up shifts occasionally and provide extra support during busy periods if needed.

Start Date: ASAP.

Wage: will be determined and offered based on commensurate with experience.
