FINANCIAL/ACCOUNTING ANALYST (PERMANENT, FULL-TIME)

The Human Resources Department at the Corporation of the County of Prince Edward is currently accepting applications for the full-time, permanent position of Financial/Accounting Analyst. Reporting to the Manager of Finance/Deputy Treasurer, the Financial/Accounting Analyst is responsible for a number of general accounting and financial functions. This may include daily, monthly, and annual accounting and budget duties, such as generating, analyzing and distributing required reports, assisting with budget and year-end working papers as well as banking, revenue transactions and other projects as required. 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: 

•       Successful completion of a minimum three-year university degree in Accounting or equivalent, required. 

•       Minimum four years of experience in Accounting or related field is required; preferably in a municipal environment.

•       Enrollment in a recognized accounting designation program (CA), an asset. 

•       Advanced mathematical skills, with the ability to identify and apply a wide range of mathematical and statistical concepts.

•       Demonstrated understanding of, and the ability to apply, GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).

•       Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.

•       Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

•       Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills with the ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and good judgment at all times.

•       Proficiency in Financial software (TownSuites, Questica), reporting software, and Microsoft Office with a high competency level in Excel.

•       Proof of a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.

The current rate of pay for this position is $31.78 per hour, as per Band 11 of CUPE Local 2275’s Collective Agreement. Compensation also includes a competitive benefit package and membership in OMERS, a defined benefit pension plan. Please submit your application prior to [email protected].
