The Prince Edward County Chamber of Commerce promotes business, economic development and civic pride in the County of Prince Edward. We are seeking a Project Coordinator for the Attracting & Engaging the Evolving Workforce Project with the County Workforce Partnership. This is a full-time contract position
commencing as soon as possible - ending December, 2020 with the possibility of extension.


Project Coordinator

The Attracting & Engaging the Evolving Workforce Project aims to develop organizational and community capacity to implement and sustain a sector approach to workforce development, by assessing and coordinating our resources to deliver an enduring collective approach that serves both the sector and our workforce.


Reporting to: Prince Edward County Chamber of Commerce

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for raising awareness and stimulating growth and investment in a range of industries related to competitiveness and prosperity.

Specific duties to include:
Labour market research:

  • Research the number of short and long-term jobs available in the existing sectors
  • Liaise with regional initiatives like Ontario East Economic Development Commission
  • Identify emerging sectors in the community

Depending on the outcome of the labour market research, the potential areas of focus include:

  • Identify and attract business and investment to the Prince Edward County community that offer year-round employment
  • Identify strategies to recruit workers to the area and the eastern Ontario region
  • Identify opportunities for long and short-term development and maintenance of a skilled workforce
  • Identify the skill set employers are seeking to attract training bodies to fill identified gaps along with establishing recruitment and retention strategies
  • Identify strategies to prepare local underemployed youth to fill and retain current and upcoming labour shortages
  • Work with post-secondary institutions to make use of talent development and retention

Other responsibilities will be:

  • Enhancing and improving current markets and industry.
  • Support businesses with strategic business development.
  • Attract new and innovative business solutions.
  • Identify workshops and training opportunities to business, employees, and future prospects.
  • Work and collaborate with local Community Partners and Stakeholders.
  • Prepare report of collected data, identified gaps, etc to share with key stakeholders and partners for the purpose of the continued Sector Partnership Planning Grant.


Job Qualifications:

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma in project management, business administration or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Community partners, Stakeholders, and local businesses.
  • Demonstrated experience in word processing, data management, and report preparation and writing.
  • Effective research skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including sound judgement, demonstrated professionalism and ability to develop rapport with community partners, employers, and stakeholders.
  • Strong administration, planning and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Established flexibility and problem solving abilities.
  • Well-developed time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Office Suite (Drive, Sheets, Calendar, Slides, Docs). Experience with Zoho Website Builder an asset.
