Helping immigrants settle and integrate into Canadian society within the Quinte Region is an important process and requires the collaboration of all sectors in the region. The Quinte Local Immigration Partnership (QLIP) seeks to strengthen the role of communities in serving and integrating immigrants by bringing local stakeholders such as residents, municipalities, cities, the Provincial government, the Federal government, schools, community agencies, employers, grassroots groups and many more to the planning table. The QLIP provides a collaborative framework for, and facilitates the development and implementation of, sustainable local solutions for the successful integration of immigrants. The QLIP puts immigration on the local planning agenda, and helps communities reap the social and economic benefits of successful immigrant integration and retention. The QLIP provides opportunities for both newcomers and the community receiving them, to work together to identity barriers, develop policies, and implement programs that will facilitate immigrant settlement and integration.



The QLIP Program Coordinator is employed at Quinte Immigration Services QUIS in Belleville Ontario and includes responsibilities to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), in the coordination of a regional coalition of multiple stakeholders in the Quinte Region working to strengthen local capacity to attract and retain newcomers, improve labour market integration for newcomers and produce more welcoming communities. Work towards enabling and/or enhancing the delivery of services for newcomers.


The QLIP commitments include:

  • Supporting community planning on the matter of immigrant settlement, integration, retention and labour market integration
  • Endeavouring to strengthen the role of communities in serving and integrating immigrants by bringing local stakeholders together in pursuit of local and regional solutions
  • Emphasizing immigration on the local planning agenda
  • Increasing awareness about issues faced by immigrants in the community
  • Encouraging inclusive community engagement opportunities
  • Supporting the coordination efforts of community service providers to further build upon their capacity to effectively assist newcomers
  • Supporting the development and sustainability of the QLIP community network.



  • Researching, compiling, extracting, analyzing and synthesizing information and preparing reports, minutes and statistical overviews.
  • Policy analysis and development
  • Preparing communication products such as briefing materials, summary notes and reports or presentations for stakeholders and management
  • Booking meeting locations in the Quinte Region for stakeholders
  • Attend local and regional events and relevant meeting with an interest in furthering the newcomer success agenda including job fairs, summits and conferences.
  • Preparing agendas, scheduling and hold stakeholder meetings and preparing minutes
  • Working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders in pursuit of improving services and closing gaps in services for newcomers
  • Inviting stakeholders with an interest in assisting newcomers to the QLIP
  • Assisting in the design and promotion of local settlement strategies and action plans for the partnership
  • Participating, supporting and attending many community events and gatherings in an effort to listen to, and learn about, the different perspectives of organizations and residents when it comes to building a more welcoming community.
  • Providing progress reports for Quinte Immigration Services QUIS and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)

  • Degree in a field related to the duties of the position or acceptable alternative
  • Strong understanding of diversity and multicultural issues

  • Effective communication skills including writing and public speaking
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders to catalyze collaboration
  • Computer competency including Microsoft Office applications - Internet/Email - databases and statistics.
