The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the day-to-day clinical and operational management of the hospital pharmacy.  Reporting to the Senior Director, Hospital Mental Health, the Pharmacy Manager provides leadership, support and oversight of pharmacy operations and professional practice according to organizational and departmental policy, federal and provincial legislation, professional standards of practice, including CSHP and NAPRA, and Accreditation Canada Medication Management standards.  The Pharmacy Manager is accountable to the Ontario College of Pharmacists for the provision of pharmacy services at Providence Care Hospital. The Pharmacy Manager utilizes clinical experience, knowledge and leadership skills to provide professional pharmaceutical direction, management and leadership through a team-oriented approach and philosophy and acts as a reference source to Providence Care.


Role Responsibilities

  • Collaboratively with the Pharmacy Operations Lead, provides leadership and oversight to pharmacy operations including the supervision of registered pharmacists, pharmacy assistants and registered pharmacy technicians
  • Supports and promotes the pharmaceutical care practice model and pharmacy as a member of the interprofessional team
  • Develops, implements and evaluates departmental policies, procedures, programs and service.
  • Coordinates and maximizes available resources in assigned areas of care and in conjunction with appropriate stakeholders, to meet client care needs and goals
  • Promotes and participates in an interprofessional approach to client care and fosters collaborative relationships with other program staff within the Hospital and throughout Providence Care
  • Manages annual program expenditures within budget and submits budget reports as required, approving operating and capital expenditures within authorized limits

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Baccalaureate degree in Pharmacy; Advanced degree, preferred
  • Current, unrestricted registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Successful completion of a Pharmacy Residency Program accredited by the Canadian Hospital Pharmacy Residency Board, preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience as a Hospital Pharmacist
  • Minimum of three years pharmacy managerial experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing effectively with internal partners such as senior management, departmental managers and professional practice leaders and external partners
  • Experience in project management an asset
  • Experience in supervision of interprofessional teams within a unionized environment
