Description

The successful candidate will join the Manufacturing Engineering Team and will be responsible for supporting the assembly processes, equipment, project work, and day-to-day manufacturing issues of the Business Unit. You will work cross functionally within a fast-paced, hands-on environment to provide support within the engineering department and other departments as required. You will have the ability to work with minimal supervision within a team based environment. Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and excellent time management skills are a requirement. Proficiency in the Microsoft Suites is required, but other CAD modeling, robot training languages and PLC Logic is a benefit.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide engineering support to production teams, including developing and implementing standards/specifications for machine control and associated documentation (PFMEA (process failure mode effects)/Control Plan / Process Flow Charts)
  • Assist in new part program launches for OEM (original equipment manufacturer) automotive customers which include process and machine development for assembly lines
  • Responsible for managing changes to PLC (programmable logic controller), HMI (human machine interface), robotics, various different drive systems, servo / linear actuators, vision and electronics systems of existing and new automated equipment
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and improve Machine Control Logic, Electrical and Pneumatic Schematics for new and existing equipment as well as develop and maintain standards and systems
  • Design new and/or modify current automation
  • Support daily Business Unit Operations with respect to machine and process breakdown, repair & modification
  • Drive data based continuous improvement and cost savings activities
  • Providing training and support on production processes to various departments
  • Managing and resolving issues and providing regular updates on programs

Knowledge of the following is required:

  • Vision systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, Drive Systems, Robotics and Automation Controls
  • Diverse measuring systems
  • AutoCAD or other modelling software
  • Any or all Controls programs: Allen Bradley, Cognex, Keyence, Epson, and FANUC

Qualifications:

  • Preferred candidates will possess post-secondary education in the field of engineering or the equivalent
  • 1–5 years’ experience in Engineering related role

3-5 years’ experience of plant manufacturing environment (preferably automotive) will be given preference
