On behalf of our client, Bay of Quinte Mutual Insurance, we invite applications for the newly created full time position of IT Administrator with this progressive insurance company located in the heart of Prince Edward County.


The role:

Reporting to the Manager of Finance and Technology, the IT Administrator will take the lead on all IT related matters.

In this on site role, the IT Administrator will develop and execute an IT strategy together with the Manager of Finance and Technology that is aligned with Bay of Quinte Mutual’s strategic objectives and goals, establish priorities, and ensure the integration of IT across Bay of Quinte Mutual.

The incumbent will be responsible for IT Security including developing cyber security policies and plans, ensuring  Bay of Quinte Mutual is compliant with relevant laws and regulations, and  addressing business continuity as it relates to IT and network resources.  Additionally, the incumbent will manage and ensure security of all computer equipment and mobile devices.

Supporting the work of the company, the IT Administrator will ensure insurance back office software is operational as well as manage, develop, and change rules as necessary.  Providing high degree of support to staff for IT related issues, as well as organizing and assisting in the training of staff on IT matters will also be key in this role.

Externally, the IT Administrator will establish and maintain positive relationships with third party partnerships, and will represent Bay of Quinte Mutual at industry events and functions.


The requirements:

  • Relevant education or certification and/or equivalent work experience in the IT field, coupled with experience providing support to non IT staff and working collaboratively with third party vendors is required.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry is not required, but is an asset.
  • Experience working in an industry providing technical support to the public or a customer/membership base is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills including verbal and written skills are required.
  • Candidates will have a positive, approachable demeanor, with a high commitment to working in a team environment, and providing superior internal customer service.
