The Marsh Hill Farm Stand, located in the Reid’s Dairy Parking lot on Bell Boulevard in Belleville, is hiring a farm stand worker for the summer season.
The right person would have a friendly and open personality; be able to do mental math quickly and efficiently; and have a good understanding of the benefits and uses of fresh produce (ie be able to talk about food, gardening and cooking…). An artistic flare to keep the stand creative and practical would be welcome.
We prefer someone who is constantly on the go – checking the way the customer sees the stand, refilling the products, keeping everything fresh and full. Portable coolers (about 30 lbs) keep the fruit and vegetables cool and fresh. Everything we grow on the farm in Stirling is organically produced without pesticides, and all products we sell are from Ontario only.
We are looking for a responsible, mature, fit and honest person who understands the importance of putting the customer first every time.
The right person would meet the farm truck at the stand location in the Reids Dairy Parking lot at 9:00 a.m each morning. They would then assist the van driver with unloading the farm produce and set up the display stand. Greeting people, assisting with purchases, topping up the product on display and keeping a tidy and organized stand is an important part of the job. Some lifting is required.
At 5:30 p.m., the driver will return with the farm produce truck and the employee would help the driver pack up and load the truck. This job runs from Wednesday to Sunday inclusive, with Monday and Tuesdays off.
The employee must be willing to work through from 9-5:30 taking lunch and breaks during slow periods and when opportunities present themselves. The Reid's Dairy washroom can be used when necessary, but the stand would be left as “self-serve” for the time the stand operator is away, so these breaks should be relatively quick. Be prepared for changes in the weather, have water to stay hydrated, stay in the shade of the canopy as much as possible, and bring your lunch. No smoking, no headphones, no phone chats except during breaks. Other days off, must be negotiated at least 2 weeks in advance.
Rate of pay is $13.50/hr for an 8 hr day. 40 hours/week
Job starts Saturday, June 23rd and runs 5 days per week until Monday, September 3rd, with weekends only in September and October.
Please send short letter telling us why you would be perfect for this job by Monday June 18th. Interviews on Thursday evening, June 21st. Job starts June 23. Email Carson Tribble at: firstname.lastname@example.org Also please note any possible work dates that would not be available and if you are a student, when you could start work.
Thanks to everyone who applies.
