Marsh Hill Farm, just outside Stirling, is looking for part-time, temporary strawberry pickers for the next month or so. This is fairly straightforward work, done on the hands and knees, moving down the assigned rows. It is not difficult. A good picker can generally pick about 2 flats per hour. This job is paid by the "piece" that is per box or flat picked. The rate is $1.25 per box or $7.50 per flat of 6 boxes, paid at the end of the day. Chatting with a partner or friend, listening to headphones etc is fine. Pickers must arrive at the farm by 7:00 and work until 10 or 11, when it generally gets too hot.
Pickers should come prepared to work outside (bring bug spray, sunscreen), wear old comfortable clothes, sun hat and runners, and bring water.
Please call Carson at 613-885-7399 to arrange a time to come out. We are starting to pick the week of June 18th most every day, unless it rains. Please do not just show up without making phone arrangements first.
Good pickers may wish to extend the job by moving into picking peas, beans, and tomatoes as the season progresses.
