YMCA Northumberland currently has an opening for the following position:

Day Time Lifeguard/Swim Instructor - Cobourg YMCA (Part-Time)

Job Responsibilities:

Ensuring public safety

Educate the public on water safety with a focus on accident prevention

Respond to emergency situations and provide first aid within the scope of training

Enforce and follow policies and procedures and adhere to Ontario Public Pool Regulations, including but not limited to:

admission requirement standards and emergency procedures

Directly supervising the pool area

Continuous scanning of the pool and surrounding area including the deck and hot tub

Enforce policies and procedures of aquatics facility

Monitor participants in pool, identifying risks/hazards and associate good judgement

Assist with pool ratios in the water

Ability to work Monday to Friday between the hours of 5:00 AM and 3:00 PM

Job Qualifications:

National Lifeguard Certification (NL)

YMCA Swim Instructor or equivalent is an asset

Standard First Aid with CPR-C

Customer service experience and excellent communication skills to deal effectively and courteously with staff and the public

Good interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships

Ability to work varying shifts as required and attend all mandatory trainings

Provide a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check prior to commencing employment

Ability to or interest in teaching Aquafit would be considered an asset
