The Whistling Duck in Brighton is seeking full time and part time Chef to join their team.

Job Duties: 

  • Lead a team of BOH staff – scheduling, coaching and training BOH staff
  • Develop new recipes including yield, full cost and documenting all recipes
  • Plan and execute catering menus for private events
  • Develop seasonal menu items with a strong focus on pairing with the beers brewed on site
  • Maintain communication with Managers and Owner and help out with any questions related to the kitchen
  • Ensure recipes, food preparation and presentation meet restaurant specifications
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen environment
  • Maintain budgeted food costs and kitchen labour costs
  • Prepare and assist with all orders to the kitchen
  • Resolve customer complaints


  • Minimum 2 years of management experience in a restaurant
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-directed, reliable and dependable with the strong team player skills
  • A Food Safety Handlers Certificate would be an asset but can be obtained
