The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society is a registered charity with a provincial office in Stouffville. The Society supports communities throughout Ontario. The following opportunity is available at the Ontario SPCA Animal Centre in Napanee.

Animal Care Assistant (ACA1)/Fundraising Assistant -- Lennox & Addington Animal Centre. Must be attending school full time, returning in September 2019 and be between 15 and 30 years of age.

Canada Summer Jobs Student

Full Time: 35.5 hours per week for eight weeks.

Responsible for the day-to-day care and cleanliness of the animal and premises. Provides customer service to the public and assists with fundraising and public-relations projects. Please not this position requires regular weekend work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Daily Care and maintenance of animals housed within the branch animal shelter -- which includes feeding and cleaning cages, walking and grooming dogs.
  • Light building maintenance -- including mopping floors, laundry
  • Customer service related activities servicing all community populations which may include answering inquiries, animal intake, adoptions, merchandise sales, receive donations and assist volunteers in the shelter
  • Assist with fundraising projects and public relations projects
  • Assists with Community Relations Co-ordinator/Centre Manager with the planning, organizing and execution of fundraising and public awareness events within the community
  • Assist in recruiting and training volunteers for fundraising activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a genuine compassion for animals
  • Animal care training and experience would be an asset
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Must be flexible to perform a variety of duties
  • Must not have allergies limiting or affecting exposure to animals
