Pathways to Independence is hiring Casual Support Workers who will work as a member of the support team to enhance the social, leisure and daily living activities of clients. Under the direction of the Client Services Manager, the Casual Support Worker supports adults’ mental health, behavioural challenges and those involved in forensic services in accordance with the person’s individual Quality of Life Plan. The Casual Support Worker assists with activities such as activities of daily living and supports community and personal development skills in accordance with the person’s Quality of Life Plan and other directives, as required.  The Casual Support Worker will implement established strategies and behaviour management plans under the general directions of the Client Services Manager.  The Casual Support Worker ensures that the person’s services and supports promote their rights, choices, self-determination, independence and builds personal and community living skills.


The successful candidate must have the following skills/qualifications:


  • Secondary School Graduation and a minimum one year post-secondary certificate in Human or Health Services (Personal Support Worker or equivalent).  Proof of education is a condition of employment;
  • Continuing education in development disabilities/acquired brain injuries is an asset;
  • Current First Aid and CPR;
  • Valid G class driver’s licence.  The successful candidate must have access to their own vehicle.


Ideal candidates will also have experience and abilities aligned with the key responsibilities for these positions, which includes:

  • Demonstrate a person centred philosophy and commitment to agency vision, mission and guiding principles
  • Experience supporting adults with a dual diagnosis, mental health or other cognitive impairments i a residential, community or independent living environment is preferred;
  • Knowledge of Justice and Social Services system, services and supports an asset;
  • Provide effective services and supports to supported persons;
  • Manage and maintain accurate client information and documentation;
  • Participate in and ensure a positive team environment.


Successful candidates must be available to work a minimum of three (3) shifts in every two-week pay period.  Shifts are from 4-12 hours and include days, evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays.


The successful candidate must be able to perform the job duties as outlined in the job description.
