Wentworth Landscapes is now in its 28th season and has over 90 staff servicing clients from Brockville to Cobourg, Picton to Kaladar. Our head office is located in Picton, ON, in beautiful Prince Edward County. We are a full-service design/build and landscape management company. We are currently seeking a talented and professional Human Resource (HR) Specialist to join our team and manage all human resource procedures. The successful candidate will be passionate about recruiting, supporting, and evolving employees through our company’s guidelines and managing processes.

Your primary responsibilities will be to take ownership of all HR matters across the company from recruitment to involvement with performance reviews, wage reviews, disciplinary action, and learning and development will be reviewing and making recommendations on our current compensation and benefits packages, maintaining employee records, and recruiting new employees. To excel in this role, you should be an excellent communicator.

 

 

HR SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate and update/refine our existing human resource department policies, procedures, and structures.
  • Manage the employee benefits program.
  • Oversee quarterly and annual employee performance review processes.
  • Ensure all employee records are maintained and updated with new hire information or changes in employment status.
  • Identify the company’s hiring needs and manage the recruitment process to ensure it runs smoothly.
  • Assist in recruiting excellent staff.
  • Manage a smooth onboarding process.
  • Train, counsel, and coach our staff as required.
  • Resolve staffing conflicts through positive and professional mediation.
  • Provide direction and guidance with performance and wage reviews.
  • Conduct exit interviews with staff that are leaving the company.
  • Develop clear policies and ensuring policy awareness.
  • Maintain and report on workplace health and safety compliance.
  • Handle workplace investigations, disciplinary and termination procedures.
  • Respond to employees’ queries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain employee and workplace privacy.

 

 

EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Carry out necessary administrative duties.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in human resources or HR designation.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ proven experience in human resources or related field.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Experienced in educating and coaching staff.
  • Experienced in conflict resolution, disciplinary processes and workplace investigations.
  • Experienced in following and maintaining workplace privacy.
  • Good understanding of the full recruitment process.
  • Strong knowledge of labour legislation and payroll processes and compliance.
  • Ability to give presentations.
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety laws.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid problem-solving abilities.
  • Experienced in using computers for a variety of tasks.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Proficiency in Quick Books is an asset.
